

In addition to the certification classes, Laguna Culinary Arts offers a variety of wine appreciation classes for wine lovers of all levels.
Wine Basics
This course is for those who love wine and want to learn more about it, but are afraid to jump into our certificate classes. Taught by Chef Laurent Brazier, this 3-part series includes basic information about international grape varietals and reading labels, introduction to the major wine growing regions of the world, and each region's unique classification system, as well as a beginners approach to tasting wine. Six different wines will be tasted in each class. $160 for three classes.

Specialty Wine Classes– What's in the Glass?
Can't get enough of learning about wine? These specialty wine classes dive deep into the subject. These classes can be taken individually and will focus on a single variety or a specific blend. Taste the difference from wine made by the same grape from different parts of the world, where climate, soil and wine making style create a unique signature.
Sauvignon Blanc Around the World

A cool to moderate climate grape, this class will introduce you to the most classic of all Sauvignon Blancs from Sancerre, to the blends of Bordeaux then across the new world from California to the southern hemisphere.

Pinot Noir Around the World

One of the oldest cultivated vines in existence, and the most genetically unstable grape around, Pinot Noir varies exceedingly around the world. Explore the most important regions for this challenging grape, taste the classic styles and differences from various regions.

Cabernet Sauvignon & Cab-based Blends Around the World

The king of grapes, Cabernet Sauvignon is grown in every corner of the world. Whether you prefer the classic blends of Bordeaux or the bold structure of the new world, this versatile variety is a world-wide favorite.

Food & Wine Pairing Classes
These are NOT cooking classes, but a classroom-style lecture with wonderful food & wine. Each class features a 5-course "small plates" meal with wine pairings, and you will learn how to pair wine with the dishes, why some wines work better than others, and the basic principals of matching wine with your favorite dishes.
The Basics of Wine & Food Pairing – 3 class Series
These courses are for those with some basic wine knowledge who are ready to explore the basic concepts of pairing your favorite foods with great wine (or pairing your favorite wine with great food!) Each class will feature 5 "small plate" dishes, with wines per dish (total of 7 wines per class). Through interactive discussion, the students will discuss the success of each pairing, and explore the reasons for a good or poor relationship between the food and the wine. These are not cooking classes, but a classroom-style lecture with wonderful food & wine.

Class 1: White wines; Class 2: Lighter body red wines; Class 3: Full body red wines
